Igbos Group Elect Nnamdi Kanu As New Leader


A coalition of pan-Igbo groups, the Eastern Consultative Assembly, on Tuesday, elected the detained Biafra activist, Nnamdi Kanu, as its new ‘leader’.

Kanu, who also heads a pro-Biafra group, the Indigenous People of Biafra, is currently in detention at Kuje Prison, Abuja.

He is being prosecuted by the Federal Government over alleged offences that border on treasonable felony.

Kanu was elected leader of the ECA in absentia at a special session which held in Enugu.

NSCDC Arrests Two Teenagers in Borno Including A 15-Year-Old Pregnant Ex-Wife Of Boko Haram Commander, Mamman Nur

Operatives of the Borno State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, on Tuesday intercepted two teenage girls, including an ex-wife of the factional leader of the dreaded Boko Haram sect, Mamman Nur.
State commandant of the corps, Ibrahim Abdu, while parading the girls at a press briefing in Maiduguri, said they were suspected to have been smuggled from Sambisa forest into the town carry out suicide attacks.

Kidnapped Ondo State Monarch, Oba Joel Daodu, Released By His Abductors

Oba Joel Daodu, the Oniyani of Iyani Akoko, who was kidnapped on the 16th of April by gunmen along Owo/Ikare- Akoko highway in Ondo State, has been released.
The Oba was found walking by the roadside in Ayede-Ogbese, along Akure-Owo highway from where he was then taken to the police station. This was confirmed to Channels Television by both the Chief Press Secretary to the Ondo State Governor, Segun Ajiboye, and the spokesman for the Ondo State Police Command, Mr. Femi Joseph. 

Ikoyi Billions: EFCC Searches Peter Obi’s Apartment, Finds Nothing

The Media Aide to the former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, has confirmed the searching, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), of the flat occupied by the former Governor in the building in Ikoyi Lagos where the Agency last week discovered large sums of money in various currencies amounting to N13 – N15 billion.
Speaking to the press seeking confirmation of the search on Tuesday, Obi’s Media Aide, Valentine Obienyem, who revealed that the Ex-Governor is resident in Onitsha, said that the apartment rented by the wife of the former Governor was usually where Mr. Obi stayed anytime he was in Lagos.

Two suspected kidnappers were shot dead during a gun duel with the police along Factory Road, Aba, Abia State on Monday, April 17. Another wounded suspect was apprehended at the hospital where he had gone to receive treatment.
According to an eye witness, the suspects had kidnapped a couple heading home from church but luck ran out on them when the wife sighted some officers on patrol and raised alarm.

Rescue Of All The Abducted Chibok School Girls May Take Years- Minsiter Of Defence Says

Minister of Defence, Brig-Gen Mansur Ali says rescuing the remaining 195 Chibok school girls held captive by Boko Haram members would take years. Recall that the sect members on April 14th 2014, kidnapped 276 students from the Government Girls College Chibok in Borno state.

Some of them have been rescued while others fled the sect's camp in Sambisa forest. According to the Minister of Defence, the rescue of the remaining 195 girls might take years.

Nigerians Deserve To Know The Owner Of The Over $50m Seized In Ikoyi - Saraki Says

Senate President Bukola Saraki, says Nigerians deserve to know the owner of the $50 million found in an apartment in Ikoyi by EFCC operatives on April 12th.
